Nomada Project is a new music series that celebrates both the organic sounds of live music and the pulse of the deep electronic beat. Prepare to be taken on a sound journey around the globe at Alternity - a beautiful space that lends ambiance and relaxation.

This is a space to gather, unwind, to connect, share, and dance, as we celebrate sound and move into the new week ahead.

This time we welcome back the incredible duo, Ahmed and Fethi for another magical experience, alongside DJs RICO, Marcciano and Win.

△ AHMED MONEKA (Vocals, Percussion)

Since arriving to Canada from Iraq just three years ago, Ahmed's contributions as a performing artist in music and theatre have been welcomed and notable. The scene has warmly embraced his Iraqi artistic heritage – its stories and songs - into its own growing cultural narrative.

As the founding member of his group, Moneka Arabic Jazz, he performs vocals and percussion, reflecting his journey into and through the Toronto music scene. His group fuses Maqam – a style of Arabic music he learned in his native Iraq – and African groove and rhythm that he inherited from his African descendants. Ahmed is also one of the founding members of the popular Toronto band Moskitto Bar. https://ahmedmoneka.com/

△ FETHI NADJEM (Violin, Kora)

Fethi was born in 1983 in Algeria where he grew up in a family of musicians. He began playing the guitar and Oud at the age of 13, and developed his skills within the Fine Arts Association in Algiers, learning Andalous music, playing violin and mandole.

At the age of 21 Fethi was one of the founders of a world music fusion band named Djmawi Africa. They got to play in the biggest scenes all around the world for 13 years, where he also learned to play kora (african harp). Just landing in Toronto, he started playing with several bands and musicians, and recently joined the Moskitto Bar band and Moneka Arabic Jazz as a multi-instrumentalist.

A regular supporter at many of the city events. Yo can find RICO playing at the ever popular Parlour, One Loft as well Bunda Lounge and other fun venues.
