Aroma: Cinnamon Bark has a warm, spicy scent that is somewhere between clove and cinnamon, and richer than ground cinnamon. Peppery, herbaceous, earthy, spicy, bright yet slightly woodsy.

History: Medicinal use of cinnamon bark was first recorded in Chinese formularies as early as 2700 B.C. The herb has been used as a healing aid for stomach upset and gas, diarrhea, rheumatism, kidney ailments, and abdominal pain. The Egyptians used the infused herb in a foot massage blend, as well as a remedy for excessive bile. It was used as an ingredient of mulled wines, love potions and a sedative during birth.

Common Uses: Cinnamon Bark essential oil is highly respected as having antiseptic properties. From a spiritual perspective, it is believed to have a warming, uplifting characteristic.

USE ONLY THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF THE BARK IN A DIFFUSER OR INHALER. FOR SKIN APPLICATIONS IN A BLEND ONLY, USE CINNAMON LEAF ESSENTIAL OIL IN DILUTION, IF AT ALL.

Constituents: Eugenol, eugenol acetate, cinnamic aldehyde, benzyl benzoate.

Safety Information: Mucous membrane irritant and strong skin sensitizer. Avoid in cases of alcoholism, in hemophilia, in prostatic cancer, with kidney and liver problems and if taking anticoagulants. Only the oil from the leaf should be used for skin applications.
