- Native to India. Basil is part of the mint family.
- Basil has a strong, sweet, aroma and flavor, sometimes compared to anise or mint.

- The dried leaves have a much more mild flavor than the fresh.
The dried herb can be used liberally in many recipes, like pastas, meat dishes, soups and sauces such as constituting the main ingredient in pesto sauce.
Storage: Store in a cool, dark, dry place in a sealed container.
